Enterprise JavaBeans for z/OS and OS/390 CICS Transaction Server V2.2

In this IBM Redbook, we first provide an introduction to both EJB and the way it has been implemented within the CICS architecture. Following this, we document how to set up and configure a CICS region to support enterprise beans, how to use the various new tools such as the Resource Manager for Enterprise Beans (RMEB), and how to deploy and test the product samples. Then we provide information on how to diagnose and fix problems when deploying and testing enterprise beans in CICS and how to configure a multi-region CICS logical EJB server which can be used in a Parallel Sysplex environment.

Next, we document seven scenarios in which we developed enterprise beans and deployed them to CICS. We start by creating a simple HelloItso session bean using IBM WebSphere Studio Application Developer, and then show you how to create a stateful session bean called TraderAgent. Then we show you how to modify this session bean to link to the business logic within our Trader COBOL program using either the JCICS classes or the CICS Transaction Gateway ECIRequest class.

Following this, we develop new Java versions of our Trader COBOL application using either the JCICS classes, the SQLJ and JDBC interfaces, or an entity bean running in WebSphere Application Server for z/OS. We also provide details on how to secure session beans in CICS using either EJB role security or traditional CICS transaction security.
