DFSORT Messages, Codes and Diagnosis Guide R14
This book is intended to help you:
*
Eliminate common sources of errors. Part 1, "Eliminating Common Sources of Error" in topic 1.0 explains how to get messages and dumps and how to identify and eliminate various problems.
*
Interpret the informational and error messages issued by DFSORT. Part 2, "Messages and Codes" in topic 2.0 contains the messages returned from the program, explains their meanings, and suggests appropriate responses.
*
Diagnose a program failure that you suspect is caused by DFSORT. Part 3, "Diagnosis Guide" in topic 3.0 is a step-by-step guide that will assist you in searching for a solution and, if necessary, reporting the problem to the IBM Support Center.
The Diagnosis Guide is designed to help you solve problems you encounter when running DFSORT. To use the information in this part most efficiently, first determine whether the problem is caused by:
A user error
Read Chapter 1, " Eliminating Common Sources of Error" in topic 1.1, for solutions to some of the most common errors users encounter when running DFSORT.
A program error
Use the numbered steps listed in Chapter 7, " Resolving Failures in the DFSORT Program" in topic 3.1, to describe the problem and to find out if corrections for it are already available.
A DFSORT Panels error
A failure while working in DFSORT Panels might be due to an abend in the DFSORT Panels program, ISPF, or ISMF. Begin with Chapter 8, "Resolving Problems When Using DFSORT Panels" in topic 3.2. If the problem actually is a DFSORT program failure, the steps in that section will direct you back to this page.
